It has now been over 35 years since I discovered the power of storytelling, back under a lantern on a meadow in Hastings. At first it was just a friend and I there. We waited for the bus to pick us up. We were too early. Way too early. But others also joined us, and I was asked to tell one of my stories, and I did, and one became several. I told. Nothing more, got involved in the events being told and took the others with them if they wanted. What else was happening around us? I can not say it. I enjoyed the moment and the interaction and the exchange and proved myself to be an attentive guide. Last we talked about it. Then we got on the bus and drove away, away from the place and away from the action. After that I didn’t talk about it for a long time, only the experience accompanied me, occasionally rolling over me in a gentle wave and carrying me away to the lantern in Hastings over 35 years ago.
