Dance your life

Inspired by Jonny Blue „Aber wer?“

Always forward it must go. You have been told, always forward, from one task to the next. To fulfill what the situation claims, then to continue in the next. So it was from the beginning. You believed it, too long. Straight, pre-determined, as if it were the arbitration which had been made before all times to which you have to correspond. As if it were a fault that you had to surrender, which is not yours. You took it upon yourself. From school to work, from freedom to attachment, from childhood to children’s.

But who is to know that life is borne by a melody that belongs only to you?

But who is to trust in the rhythm of one’s life that carries you?

But who is to dance your life, if not you?

Always forward it must go. There can be no standstill. Not even to breathe. Catch. It only distracts you. Point by point it is necessary to check out the preconditions. A to-do list of the life that was pushed from somewhere, by someone in the hand. You accepted it. There stood, high up, you must be there for others. You were there, just for others, never for you. It would not even have occurred to you. But sometimes, you looked down at yourself to make sure you were still there because you did not feel yourself.

But who is to know that life is borne by a melody that belongs only to you?

But who is to trust in the rhythm of one’s life that carries you?

But who is to dance your life, if not you?

Always forward it must go. Until the day when all the points were finished and the last one on the To-Do list has been stroken, the day when there was no one left for you to be there because they lived their own lives. And you yourself, you did not see. You settled down for the first time. Perhaps it was in the park on a spring day that promised a new beginning but you were already above the zenith of life. It did not matter to you, the new day, the new beginning, the new life. You were trapped in you without being with you.

But who is to know that life is borne by a melody that belongs only to you?

But who is to trust in the rhythm of one’s life that carries you?

But who is to dance your life, if not you?

Then a melody came from afar. You recognized it immediately, for it had always been there, your melody, which asked you to dance. But you had covered it with the noise of the life that was inflicted upon you. But now, on this day, when you had not believed in a new beginning, it was that you allowed it. At last you were so far to give in to the impulse to get up and to trust yourself to the rhythm of your own life.

So that you fell, into that melody that belongs to you alone, that surrounded and carried you, so that from the inconsistency became a determinateness.

So that you found yourself and felt comfortable in yourself, because you were finally near you.

So you found yourself in arms belonging to someone who added your melody.

And you pinched your cheek in a hand that held you while you were dancing your life.
